722 MARION AVE HOUSE
Palo Alto CA – USA

Palo Alto is a city in the San Francisco Valley, a famous and attractive area with high residential density. The San Francisco Bay area is characterised by a continuous and infinite sequence of one-floor single houses from San Francisco to San Jose. Its distinctive spread dominates virtually all usable acreage.

The 722 Marion Ave House project sits in the middle of this uninterrupted space continuum. The project provides a modest-sized residence carefully inserted in the backyard of an existing house. It involves the subdivision of the residential lot into two units, with the consequent construction of a highly compact block. The design is rigorous and pragmatic to obtain maximum efficiency despite the limited helpful area.

The architectural language underlines the two volumes using walnut wood finishes for the volume on the ground floor and aluminium panels on the first floor.
